Jammin’ for Justice is an all day event on August 18th striving to bring people from all sectors of our community together to recognize the impact of the work of two local organizations, Southside Community Center and the Multicultural Resource Center who work on various issues that address cultural and systemic oppression in our local and national landscapes through the power of organized arts and culture-- and to celebrate in this coming together as a part of healing the multigenerational/centuries-ol
Conversations, creative expression of all kinds, and information sharing regarding our collective past, present and future will be encouraged. Community building and grassroots action led by those most impacted is our long-term goal.
The day will begin on the West End of MLK St. and proceed sequentially towards the Ithaca Commons through the afternoon and into the evening –
The Westy Noon - 2:00pm
Southside Community Center 2:00 – 6:00pm
Sacred Kava Lounge 4:00 – 8:00pm
Chanticleer Loft 7:00 – 10:30pm
The Range 9:00 - 1:00am
Forest City Lodge midnight - 3:00am
Music, dance, theater and art will abound!
All venues/activities are suggested donation of $5-10. All proceeds will be given directly to two local POC-led organizations doing critical anti-racism work here in Ithaca -- the Multicultural Resource Center and Southside Community Center. Bolstering financial equity and opportunity, as well as promoting health in mind, body and spirit for ALL is our mission as an integral part of ending racism and other forms of oppression in our community.
